Ewald is the resident
track designer. Although he has a few racing seasons under his belt, he
has long since hung up his leathers opting instead for the plusher ride
given by the dozer, tractor or the "Mad Max" watering truck.
Helga is the brains behind the operation. She readily will admit that she cannot even ride a bicycle, yet the passion she has for the sport of motocross and her continued support over the years has earned her the right to offer riding advice to racers. Terry, the twelve-year-old boy from the days of Sri Lankan motocross mania has grown into a man. Gone is the boy who would ride his dad's RM250 in circles until it would run out of gas or he would crash because he couldn't touch the ground and figured those were his only alternatives. Here to stay is a man who now rides an YZ250 and races in the Intermediate and +25 classes. Terry brings with him a team of pit support and cheerleading. Tammy, Melissa and Emily can often be found helping with sign-in or handing out trophies on race day. While Terry is Ewald's only son who still races today, he does have a sibling team mate. Susie started racing in 1990, the year before the R.A.T. Track began. Susie does just about everything on race day. She has been known to tabulate results, lap score and even announce races! That's in addition to helping to prepare the track before race day. The other amazing asset Susie brings to race day is her husband, Chuck (or "the wind" as we fondly refer him). Chuck started racing a few years ago and shares the same passion and enthusiasm as the rest of the family. Chuck can be found wandering through the pits on race day, making sure everyone is having a great time. Ewald Jr. and his wife Jody are familiar faces at the gate on race day. The two team up and help to get all the spectators and riders into the pits as quickly possible. And they always do it with a smile. The last, but certainly not least colony of the Rothmaier Action Team is Tony, his girlfriend Ginette and their kids Jordon, Anthony, Connor, Xavier, Brooke and Audrey. Tony is our race day official. He controls all the race starts and keeps law and order in staging! Jordon and Anthony are being trained to take over the R.A.T. Track duties. For now, they keep out of trouble by running race results from the lap scorers to the result tabulators. Connor, Xavier, Audrey and Brooke are a little young to have a dedicated task right now, so until they are old enough, their primary goal is to just look cute! |
